At Roll-Off Dumpster Direct, we are so proud of our working relationship with our newer customer, Sidwell Friends School, a highly selective K-12 institution in Bethesda, MD.

The school’s long list of notable alumni includes NBA player Josh Hart; William “Bill Nye the Science Guy” Nye; Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton; and Malia Obama, daughter of Barack and Michelle Obama. Sasha Obama, the Obama’s youngest daughter, will graduate from Sidwell Friends in 2019.

The Effects of Quaker Values

Perhaps the school’s reputation for turning out distinguished alumni has to do with the institution’s dedication to Quaker values–mutual respect, inclusiveness, peace, and equality.

A study that ended in January of 2016 revealed that Quaker schools tend to produce students who are highly engaged with learning opportunities.

The most notable difference between Quaker and traditional public schools is the daily “Meeting for Worship.” At first glance, these look like school assemblies where the entire school gathers in silence. However, unlike during an assembly, every student and staff member has the chance to address the entire school and be heard during the meeting.

Research shows that when children feel they are attending school in a friendly, egalitarian environment, they tend to be more involved in their studies.

Roll-Off Dumpster Direct applauds Sidwell Friends School for its success and dedication, and is thankful for the opportunity to work with such a fine institution.
