Occasionally, contractors rent our dumpsters for job sites and we’re a little surprised at delivery. This was recently the case when our staff delivered a dumpster to a site in North Carolina, and it just happened to be the construction of the new Google data center in Lenoir. We were very excited to take a small part in this construction, and wanted to share some of Google’s vision with you.

Although the data center is not yet completed, Google has already done a lot to become part of the Caldwell County community, and to benefit the areas where their employees work and live. In addition to creating 110 jobs on-site, they’ve donated $3.6 million to local schools and nonprofits since 2009 and support many educational initiatives through grants, events, and other programs.

Part of the Community

Google also had a hand in a particularly interesting green initiative with Duke University and Duke Energy to take hog waste from a Yadkin County farm and turn it into renewable energy. (Yes, hog waste).

If the new data center sounds interesting to you, keep in mind that they are hiring. Here, you can check out what positions are available and even get to know some of the individuals currently working at the site. You can also see some of the specific ways Google is giving back to the North Carolina community.

To learn more about the new Google data center site, check out this page. You can even take a virtual tour!
