“Remember the Maine, to Hell with Spain!” was the rallying cry of Americans in 1898 as the country went to war against Spain. The Spanish-American War began after the sinking of the battleship USS Maine in the Havana, Cuba harbor on February 15th, 1898. What does this have to do with dumpsters? Well we delivered a 10-yd dumpster to Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC for the restoration of the mast of the Maine Memorial. 165 sailors who died in the explosion and sinking of the Maine are interned at the cemetery. The mast of the ship is part of a memorial to the USS Maine.
