NAS is part of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, along with the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) and the National Academy of Medicine (NAM).

What is the NAS?

After President Lincoln signed an Act of Congress in 1863, the NAS was born. Serving to advise our nation on matters of science and technology, this private nonprofit is made up of peer-elected scientists distinguished by their research excellence.
