Coughing, sneezing, wheezing. Welcome to allergy season. And with the crazy weather experienced all over the country this year, it’s bound to be rough. Thanks to a recent delivery to the Washington Heights Medical Center in Westminster, MD, we decided to look into the medical effects of this year’s polar vortex.

CNN reported that thanks to recent snow fall, trees will be flowering late. This means that allergens will be released less gradually than usual. If it warms up quickly, we can expect to be sneezing up a storm.

According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, residents of certain cities may have a more difficult battle with allergies this Spring. On their annual list of Spring allergy capitals, Louisville, Memphis, Baton Rouge, and Oklahoma City were the worst for allergy sufferers. Also in the top 25 were:

If you’re suffering from allergies, it’s best to take your medication early on before symptoms become too severe. Also, it’s useful to keep the air conditioning on with windows closed and to shower right before bed.
