We just made a trip down to Alexandria, VA and helped out the public library with a dumpster rental. Specifically, we stopped at the Charles E. Beatley, Jr. Central branch. However, we were intrigued by the different components that made up the Alexandria Public Library and looked around at all it had to offer — which was a lot.

It turns out, the Alexandria Public Library promotes many fun events throughout its four branches. You can view them on the website. Between all of the branches, there is truly something for everyone. Everything from developmental class for babies to teen nights to adult book clubs are held each day. We were truly impressed with all of the regular activity going on at each location. With Valentine’s Day approaching, we thought it would be fun to share one specific event beginning February 11 at the Kate Waller Barrett Branch, located at 717 Queen Street.

The event is called “Blind Date with a Book,” and participants are encouraged to stop by the library during this week and receive clues about an unknown book. You won’t find out the title until after you’ve checked out. We thought this was a great idea to pique your interest and allow you to engage in a different type of affair this Valentine’s Day. Who knows, you might even find your true literary love.

Remember, there’s no need to feel lonely this Valentine’s Day. Just snuggle up with a good read!
