At Roll Off Dumpster Direct, we’re always intrigued by a large corporation that is interested in bettering the community. And, that’s exactly what we found after making a delivery to a Subaru dealership in Trenton, NJ.

For our readers outside the Greater Philadelphia area, each year 93.3 WMMR, a local radio station, hosts a charity event called Camp Out For Hunger. For a week, the hosts of the show (Preston and Steve) camp out in a motor home to raise money and collect food for Philabundance, a Delaware Valley hunger relief effort.

Throughout the week, contributors can make financial donations or bring in non-perishable food items. Acme even partnered with this event to allow shoppers to purchase items specifically for Philabundance. The 2013 Camp Out for Hunger raised 772,461 LBS. of food  and $241,521. In total, that’s the equivalent of 1, 255,503 meals for Delaware Valley families in need.  Subaru of America came in first place as a business contributor, collecting 341,029 lbs.

Although Camp Out For Hunger happened back in December, loyal Preston & Steve listeners know that Subaru just recently received its first place prize — a live show at the Subaru of Cherry Hill, NJ. Not only has Subaru been a great contributor to Philabundance and Camp Out For Hunger in 2013, but they donate annually. In fact, they’re constantly coming up with ways to outdo themselves and motivate others to join in the cause.

But, Subaru doesn’t stop there. Subaru employees can be found volunteering at food banks, soup kitchens, food drives, and other community events throughout the year. Who doesn’t love a corporation concerned with the community?
